Farmers from five local levels in Mustang have been provided with hand tractors (mini tillers) and other agricultural mechanization equipment at subsidized rates to support farm cultivation and improve agricultural productivity.
The equipment was distributed by the National Agriculture Modernization Program – Program Implementation Unit, Mustang, under a 50 percent subsidy scheme. A total of nine types of agricultural machinery and tools were handed over to farmers as part of the “Agricultural Mechanization Support Program” approved for the current fiscal year in the zone and super-zone areas.
According to Bharat Gautam, Chief of the Program Implementation Unit, the equipment was distributed to farmers enlisted in the apple and potato zones. A total of 57 farmers from the apple and potato zones across the district’s five local levels received agricultural machinery based on their demands starting Tuesday.
The office stated that agricultural equipment worth more than NRs 3.8 million was distributed during the current fiscal year, with NRs 1.9 million contributed by the implementation unit and an equal amount invested by beneficiary farmers.
Under the program, the unit distributed 31 hand tractors to listed farmers in the apple and potato zones, including 12 diesel-powered hand tractors worth NRs 120,000 each, 17 petrol-powered hand tractors worth NRs 80,000 each, and two smaller petrol-powered hand tractors.
