Great news for women-led businesses!

Nepal Women Growth Equity Fund, a joint effort by Global Equity Fund (GEF), a private equity company that provides capital to small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) at early stage, expansion, and growth stages and USAID-led Trade and Competitiveness program has been launched.

According to the GEF, the growth fund is the first alternative capital vehicle exclusively focused on women-led businesses and will unlock investment opportunities for women and increase their access to financial services to enable them to grow their businesses.

The growth fund will mobilize a sum of Rs 500 million which is planned for investment in 10-15 SMEs in its first phase. Businesses can access a fund of Rs 5 million to Rs 50 million.

The fund is expected to expand women entrepreneurs’ access to business funding while boosting their capacity and competitiveness and domestic and international business reach.
