The Chamber of Industries Morang (CIM) has launched an enhanced Startup and Innovation Programme aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among Nepalese youth under 30, addressing the increasing trend of youth migration for employment.
This initiative is being conducted in collaboration with Biratnagar Metropolitan City and Purbanchal University. Applications are open until April 13 and can be submitted via the CIM website and social media platforms.
Applicants will undergo an evaluation process involving the presentation of their entrepreneurial concepts, from which the top 15 startups will be selected and announced on April 13. These participants will receive comprehensive support, including business plan development, technical mentorship, coaching, consultation, and networking opportunities.
CIM’s program is a 2.5-month initiative designed to support startups through four key phases: idea submission, mentoring, incubation, and acceleration. Participants will receive guidance from industry experts, help in refining business plans, and networking opportunities. Over a three-month mentorship period, CIM organizes activities like the Business Canvas Model, Business Health Checkups, and Haat-Bazaar events to support business growth. The program allows solo participants or teams consisting of up to three members, with top-performing startups receiving awards, cash prizes, and resource support.
CIM envisions this program will contribute to establishing a sustainable ecosystem for startup promotion and development, encouraging youth involvement in entrepreneurship, and reducing the need for employment-related migration.
This initiative builds upon CIM’s ongoing efforts to foster startup development and innovation. In December 2024, CIM signed an agreement with Purbanchal University to establish a business incubation center in Biratnagar, aiming to transform youth into entrepreneurs and develop a supportive ecosystem. Additionally, in October 2024, CIM selected 17 new business ideas for its second cohort of its Startup and Innovation Programme, providing mentorship and a pathway for young entrepreneurs with necessary investments.
