Nepal welcomed 86,216 international visitors in May 2025. This is an improvement over the last year with 95.6% more visitors visiting the country and a 110% recovery from May 2019—signaling a strong tourism rebound.
From January to May 2025, a total of 501,264 tourists visited the country.
As of April, the highest number of visitors came from the following five countries:
- India – 28,160 (32.7%)
- USA – 9,074 (10.5%)
- China – 8,824 (10.2%)
- Bangladesh – 4,280 (5.0%)
- United Kingdom – 3,473 (4.0%)
Looking at the regional data, South Asia (SAARC) accounted for the largest share of tourists, with 34,350 visitors (40%). This was followed by other parts of Asia with 18,069 tourists (21%), Europe with 13,330 (15.5%), the Americas with 10,842 (12.6%), Oceania with 2,984 (3.5%), the Middle East with 1,515 (1.8%), Africa with 337 (0.4%), and other regions contributing 4,789 tourists (5.6%).
Last year (2024), a total of 1,147,567 tourists visited the country—132,685 more tourists than the last year and the highest number of arrivals since the pandemic, which translated into approx 3,000 tourists visiting the country on a daily basis in 2024.
The steady rise in international visitor numbers highlights Nepal’s growing appeal as a global travel destination.
