Grant opportunity for agricultural co-operatives in Terai

20 small and large agricultural cooperatives in Dhanusha and Mahottari to receive grants of $20,000 and $49,500 through ‘KOICA-GGGI Climate-Smart Agriculture Project’

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Nepal, in partnership with KOICA, has launched the championship phase of the Terai Agribusiness and Enterprise Challenge Fund (TAECF) with its application open until April 20, 2025.

This initiative is aimed at empowering agricultural cooperatives in Madesh province, specifically Dhanusha and Mahottari districts, in order to scale up inclusive and climate-smart agribusiness models.

Grants and criteria

This initiative will provide funding to 20 agricultural cooperatives, where ten small and emerging agricultural cooperatives will receive a grant of $20,000 and ten large-scale agricultural cooperatives will receive a grant of $49,500.


There are some criteria and eligibility requirements in order to receive the grants.

Eligibility

1. Must be registered as producer cooperatives under Nepal’s Cooperative Act.
2. Should operate within Dhanusha or Mahottari (Madesh Province).
3. Minimum 40% co-investment capacity.
4. Have previously engaged or are currently engaging in agribusiness/value-chain activities.
5. Should have strong governance and financial systems.

Expected impact

This funding addresses multiple socio-economic objectives, more than just financial support. It targets enhancement of rural livelihood, improved market accessibility, and creating sustainable employment opportunities.

Fiscal Year

Nepal’s fiscal year runs from 16th July (ongoing year) to 15th July (following year).
