Farmers in Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality–3 have increasingly turned to commercial vegetable farming after receiving subsidies from their local ward office.

With the support, farmers are now cultivating seasonal vegetables such as cabbage, tomatoes, chilies, and cauliflower on a commercial scale. Local farmer Raj Bahadur Rai said the assistance provided by the ward encouraged him and others to engage in farming more actively.

“I’ve been growing vegetables for the past four years, but the support from the ward has really motivated me to expand,” he shared, noting that the aid included subsidies, training, and technical assistance.

Ward Chairperson Purna Prasad Rai stated that there are plans to further support farmers by providing agricultural equipment. He emphasized that the subsidy program is aimed at helping farmers become more self-reliant and strengthening local food production.
