An International Dairy Expo, set to begin here from Magh 25, will feature a cow exhibition as its main attraction. Organized under the theme “Technology in the Dairy Industry, Prosperity in the Economy,” the expo will showcase high-yield and improved breeds of cows.
According to Kishor Wagle, President of the Chitwan District Milk Producers Cooperative Union, the cow exhibition is being organized to inform farmers about where commercially viable, superior breeds of cows can be found and the benefits of rearing them. He said that well-bred cows raised in Chitwan and other districts will be brought for display, and detailed information about each breed will be provided to visitors.
The Dairy Expo, which will run until Magh 29, will also feature a speech competition on the importance and necessity of dairy products for human health, as well as interactive discussions on the current state of milk production, market-related problems, and possible solutions.
Wagle stated that discussions will also cover common livestock diseases and treatment methods, quality milk production, the use of technology to enhance productivity, the current status and challenges of the dairy sector, policy provisions, and expectations from the state.
It was informed during a press conference held here today that 120 dairy producers and technology companies from Nepal and India will participate in the exhibition. The event, to be held at the Chitwan Industry Association Exhibition Center, aims to promote the latest technologies and practices in dairy production, processing, and distribution, while also helping to connect small farmers, industrialists, and traders through a professional network, Wagle added.
The organizers estimate that the exhibition will attract around 50,000 visitors and generate business transactions worth NRs 500 million to NRs 700 million. Currently, 350,000 liters of milk are produced daily in the district, of which 150,000 liters are supplied outside the district. At present, more than 40,000 farmers are affiliated with 115 milk producers’ cooperatives in the district.
