Community schools in Bhojpur have begun placing strong emphasis on technical education, aligning with the government’s national policy. According to Dhruvaraj Regmi, Principal of Yashodhara Secondary School, most community schools at the secondary level in the district are prioritizing practical, employment-oriented education by integrating technology-friendly teaching approaches.

With a goal to make education both practical and employment-generating, many secondary-level community schools in Bhojpur have adopted curricula focused on technical and life-skill education. Students now have the option to pursue technical education from Grade 9 through Grade 12.

Schools such as Panchakanya Secondary School in Chyangre, Yashodhara Secondary School in Taksar, Panchakanya Secondary School in Bhulne, and Siddheshwar Secondary School in Dawal, among others, are offering technical education. Principal Regmi stated that the aim is to make education more relevant to the times and to equip students with practical skills that can lead to self-employment. He emphasized that such education supports the development of a skilled workforce, which is essential for the country’s progress.

Chairperson of the Panchakanya Secondary School Management Committee, Tekraj Bhattarai, also highlighted that efforts are being made to shift from traditional to practical and technology-integrated education. “We are focusing on technology-friendly and practice-based learning to make education more applicable to real life,” he said.

Interest in technical education among students is gradually increasing. Bhattarai shared that out of 60 students who appeared in the recent Grade 12 examinations, 49 were from the technical stream, while 11 were from the general stream. To support hands-on learning, the school has allocated land within the premises and on leased plots for various agricultural activities.

Students are gaining practical knowledge through cultivation of Akbare chili, mushrooms, tomatoes, as well as modern methods of growing rice and maize. They are also involved in fish farming, and cultivating cauliflower and avocados, along with other agricultural practices.

This shift towards technical education in Bhojpur’s community schools is seen as a crucial step toward fostering self-reliance and developing a technically skilled generation.
