The Nepal Youth Council (NYC), a youth-led, non-profit organization working on empowering young individuals across the country, has announced a National Youth Conference—its annual flagship event that aims to bring together 220 young delegates aged 18-35, including one male and one female delegates from each of 77 districts of the country. Additionally, it will host policymakers, experts, and industry leaders, to discuss national and global challenges.
The event will last for four days and take place in Kathmandu, with the venue to be announced soon.
Theme for this year
This year, the conference will focus on engaging young people in decision-making, encouraging them towards the use of local products, foods and seeds by demonstrating their importance in everyday life. The event will also discuss misinformation and its hazards, particularly about climate change.
The conference will be full of learning and opportunities. It includes discussions, exhibitions, training sessions, and an opportunity to meet and connect. Some key highlights are:
- Panel discussions and keynote sessions, including national and international experts, with topics like youth leadership, local foods, startups, climate change, digital skills, and fighting misinformation
- Workshops and capacity building session
- Showcasing local native foods and seeds exhibition
- Startup and innovation expo
- Networking and cultural exchange
- Policy dialogues with government representatives
- Award and recognition for youth changemakers
