A new local market has been launched in Ward No. 22, Patihani, Bharatpur Metropolitan City, with the aim of promoting local production. The market was officially inaugurated on Monday, the 1st of Baisakh 2082 (Nepali New Year’s Day), by Mayor Renu Dahal during a formal ceremony chaired by Ward Chairperson Bishnuraj Mahato.

Located within the premises of the Ward 22 office, the market is designed to facilitate direct interaction between farmers and consumers, thereby eliminating middlemen and directly benefiting small-scale producers.

As announced during the event, the market will operate every Friday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In its initial phase, 22 stalls will offer a diverse selection of local goods, including vegetables, dairy products, handicrafts, and homemade foods.

Launched under the slogan ‘Let’s promote local production, move toward economic prosperity,’ the initiative is expected to make a meaningful contribution to the local economy. Mayor Dahal emphasized the market’s role in the effective commercialization of local products and expressed hope that similar initiatives would be adopted in other wards.

Speakers at the event also highlighted the market’s long-term potential, noting that it not only promotes local identity but also supports the development of domestic tourism. The initiative is expected to contribute to increased agricultural productivity and provide a sustainable foundation for local economic growth.
