The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) – Koshi Province is set to host the Dhaka Festival in Biratnagar scheduled for Chaitra 7 to 9 (20th to 22nd March).
The Dhaka Festival will be held at Jain Building, Main Bazaar in Biratnagar. The festival aims to promote local entrepreneurs with participation from women entrepreneurs. The festival, which will have up to 25 stalls, will provide an exhibition opportunity for the Dhaka industry to showcase authentic traditional Dhaka attire crafted by women.
Additionally, the festival will feature a fashion event highlighting innovative designs made from Dhaka fabric and a competition weaving Dhaka cloth.
Through this event, the festival seeks to promote women artisans, elevate the Dhaka industry, and provide a platform for their work to reach a broader audience.
Additionally, a key focus of the festival will be addressing investment problems that hinder the growth and development of local industries, particularly those associated with traditional crafts, such as Dhaka weaving.
While the festival provides a platform for showcasing local talent, it is also an opportunity to examine how limited access to capital, lack of modernized production methods, and insufficient market connectivity can affect the sustainability and profitability of local businesses.
Investors and stakeholders will be encouraged to explore innovative solutions to these challenges, such as improving access to funding for small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), fostering technology in traditional craftsmanship, and enhancing export opportunities to expand market reach.
The Women Entrepreneur Development Committee of the chapter is taking the lead in organizing the festival.
