The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the government of Nepal (GoN) recently signed the USAID Direct Financing Project to advance Nepal’s food security.

The $21 million government-to-government financing will help to strengthen Nepal’s capacity to plan and implement the agricultural development programmes, working through federal, provincial, and municipal governments in Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, says the USAID.

This project is expected to support 69,000 households across 53,000 hectares of farmland, helping farmers to adopt new technologies and modern agriculture practices to enhance the production.
